Group work in class can be tedious. Reasons are lack of preparation and structure, unclear purposes, and difficult social dynamics. Students would rather listen to smart and experienced professors. However, those who speak learn, and conversational exercises are the most efficient way to distribute the word. This project develops an educational setup to improve the student experience of in-class group conversations in the BA course Practical Theology. The setup involves demands on and instructions for student preparation, clear agendas for exercises, work on group roles, and time for strategic lectures and strategic plenary dialogues. Students evaluate the setup mid-term.
