Can AI replace lawyers? The project investigated what it means for teachers of law students that students now have access to AI tools. It is necessary for teachers to be updated on the capabilities of such tools to be able to design exams and advise students on the benefits and pitfalls of using AI. The project proposed a teaching activity of letting students assess how well AI tools can answer exam questions. This activity was shown to foster critical thinking. The project found that the current ChatGPT can write answers to legal cases that sound convincing but that are nevertheless biased and lacking a legal understanding, especially of national rules in a non-English speaking country.
