Supervision is an extremely complex activity demanding a variety of competences of teachers. Especially during the Master thesis process, supervision can be a very demanding endeavor for both parties: Teachers are in a double role of supervising and assessing the thesis and students commit to a longer writing project for the first time in their study careers. In light of these demands and with respect to ever more limited resources universities have at hand, my project looks at the alignment of expectations in this supervision process.
Based on qualitative data from students and supervisors this project investigates how to align expectations in supervision.
